Introducing of School Sustainability Garden Project

Introduction of School Sustainability Garden Project:
ESD (Education for sustainable development) is a mandatory topic in the curriculum for all types of schools in Saxony. During their teacher training students learn about the possibilities of including ESD in their subjects. The University of Technology Chemnitz educates primary school teachers. Within their studies, they have the opportunity to learn very practically about ESD in a garden together with their Professor for primary school didactics https://www.tu-chemnitz.de/tu/pressestelle/aktuell/11638
The professorship cooperates with Acker e.V. This NGO supports schools in organising their own gardens.

Introducing of “Backpack project” University Chemnitz

The STFI (Sächsisches Textilforschungsinstitut e.V.) is a non-profit research institution in Saxony, which is committed to the long-standing traditions of Saxon textile research. The researchers of STFI showed what students do when they attend the Rucksack-Projekt (backpack project).
Within 5 days, they produce their own backpack starting with the textile fibres. The project was introduced to us by visiting the different stations along the textile chain in the laboratories of the STFI (weaving, plaiting, textile finishing, testing).
